Nanchang Hangkong University(南昌航空大学)

Nanchang Hangkong University (NCHU) is a multidisciplinary university primarily focused on engineering, with coordinated development in the fields of science, literature, management, economics, law, education, and art. It is one of the six earliest aviation universities established in New China and a doctoral degree-granting institution.

History and Development:
Founded in 1952, NCHU has been successively affiliated with the Ministry of Aviation Industry, the Ministry of Aerospace Industry, and the China Aviation Industry Corporation. Since 1999, the university has adopted a management system jointly built by the central and local governments, with local government oversight. It is currently jointly established by the Jiangxi Provincial Government and the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Bureau.

Campus and Facilities:
The university is located in Nanchang, the “Hero City” of Jiangxi Province, known for its rich historical and cultural heritage. The campus is beautiful and consists of three campuses: Qianhu, Shanghai Road, and Gongqingcheng, covering an area of over 3,500 acres. The total building area is 1.09 million square meters. The university is equipped with over 49,000 teaching and research facilities, with a total value of approximately 750 million RMB. The library holds over 2.38 million physical books, 308 periodicals in Chinese and foreign languages, and 492,200 e-journals, as well as 5.42 million e-books. There are 64 digital resource databases in both Chinese and foreign languages, with more than 4,500 reading seats. The sports facilities cover an area of 155,000 square meters.

The university consistently upholds the leadership of the Communist Party of China and the socialist direction in education. It has implemented the "Five Aviation and Five Forces" party-building project to enhance the quality of its party-building efforts. It has been recognized as a model university for party work and is one of the two institutions in the province designated to establish a national-level demonstration for party-building. It has also received numerous national and provincial-level awards for its party work, with its "Changhang Mode" for training national defense students receiving high-level recognition.

Talent Development:
The university is dedicated to cultivating moral integrity in its students and is one of the first institutions authorized to award bachelor’s degrees. It began offering graduate programs in 1985, received the right to confer master's degrees in 1990, and in 2024, it was granted the right to award doctoral degrees. The university currently offers 18 professional schools, 4 management colleges, and 1 independent college, with a student population of over 27,000, including more than 2,300 undergraduates, 4,400 graduate students, and 100 international students. NCHU has a national-level innovation practice base, 5 national-level feature programs, 10 first-class national courses, and many other academic and teaching accolades. NCHU places a strong emphasis on faculty ethics and standards. The university has over 2,100 staff, with more than 1,600 full-time teachers, including over 700 with senior professional titles. Over 92% of full-time faculty hold master’s or doctoral degrees. The university has trained a large number of nationally recognized educators and experts, including aerospace specialists and members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

International Collaboration:
NCHU has established stable academic partnerships with over 70 universities in more than 30 countries, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Australia. It collaborates with universities from the United States, the UK, and Ireland to offer joint undergraduate programs and credit transfer programs. The university has also been approved as a host for Chinese Government Scholarship international students, with students from countries like Russia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Morocco.

Social Reputation:
NCHU has received numerous awards, including being recognized as a "National Defense Education Featured School" by the Ministry of Education, "Provincial Civilized Campus," and "Advanced Unit in Public Security Construction" in Jiangxi. It has been reported widely by national media, including People's Daily, Xinhua News Agency, and CCTV, and has earned a reputation for its educational achievements and social contributions.
