Harbin Normal University(哈尔滨师范大学)

Harbin Normal University is located in Harbin, the historical and cultural city known as the "Ice City and Summer Capital." The university is an important base for talent cultivation and scientific research in the fields of education, arts, humanities and social sciences, and natural sciences in Heilongjiang Province. It is a key institution in the province’s development of high-level universities. The university is also part of the national "Basic Capacity Building Project for Universities in Central and Western China" and is a pilot university for the Ministry of Education’s "Comprehensive Reform of the All-around Education" initiative. In December 2022, the university was selected as part of the "Double First-Class" initiative for building top-tier domestic universities in Heilongjiang Province.

Founded in 1951, the university traces its origins to the Dong Province Special District Art School established in 1929. In 1947, it was renamed the Songjiang Provincial Xingzhi Normal School, and later underwent significant developmental phases, including becoming Harbin Normal College (1951–1956) and Harbin Normal University (1956–1980). In 1980, it officially became Harbin Normal University.

The university adheres to the socialist direction of education and focuses on the fundamental task of fostering virtue and talent. It emphasizes ideological and political guidance and the distinctiveness of teacher education, advocating the "Xingzhi Spirit," which centers on selfless dedication, unity of knowledge and action, practical advancement, and public service in education. The school motto spirit is "Cultivate Virtue, Encourage Learning; Develop Strength, Reach Far," while the standard for teachers is "A good teacher must be knowledgeable and set a moral example." The university has been recognized for its leadership in party building, earning the title of "National Benchmark Party Building Department" and five "National Model Party Branches."

Harbin Normal University has been awarded numerous honors, including "Civilized Unit Model of Heilongjiang Province," "Advanced Unit in National Spiritual Civilization Construction," "National Civilized Unit," and "National Civilized Campus."

The university has three campuses in Harbin, covering an area of 1.547 million square meters. It has fixed assets totaling nearly 3.133 billion RMB and teaching and research equipment valued at 462 million RMB. The university also features an exhibition center, which includes the university history museum and cultural relics museum as its core components. The library holds a collection of over 12 million books and is a "National Key Unit for the Protection of Ancient Books."
